About TV show The X-Files season 12
At the center are FBI agents Dana Scully and Fox Mulder, who are supposed to solve mysterious cases under their superiors, FBI Assistant Director Walter S. Skinner. At the beginning of the plot, drawn in the pilot episode, Scully and Mulder get to know each other in their first common case. Physician Scully was appointed as Mulder's partner to better monitor his work. Mulder and Scully have different ideas about their work: Mulder is convinced of the existence of aliens and UFOs and is also attached to conspiracy theories. Scully, on the other hand, thinks and works according to scientific methods and often casts doubt on Mulder's ideas.
The series operates a mix of thematically self-contained "Monster-of-the-Week" episodes and the pursuit of a red thread that describes a plot between powerful politicians and extraterrestrials. These include recurring, internal references and a continuously increasing number of minor characters such as "the lonely shooter" ("The Lone Gunmen"), "the smoker" (English "The Cigarette-Smoking Man", also "cancer candidate" , called "Cancer Man") or the V-man Alex Krycek. The core of the conspirators, the consortium or syndicate, is at the service of aliens, such as secret medical experiments, to support their planned invasion and to secure their own survival in exchange. An extraterrestrial uprising on the part of UFO abductors and Area 51 operations is leading to another conflict within the series.
The roles of the various characters in the planned alien invasion only become apparent over time, while new figures and threads expand the overall picture - a narrative pattern with which the fantasy writer H. P. Lovecraft developed his Cthulhu myth.
Mulder knows about the conspiracy and wants to expose it publicly. He hopes to clarify the disappearance of his sister Samantha and find her alive. Scully's allegation of conspiracy is brought about by her kidnapping by strangers at the beginning of season two and the murder of her sister Melissa. In the further course of the series, it is alternately Mulder and Scully, partly interwoven with FBI colleagues and other characters who are driven by skepticism, sometimes driven by concern the conspirators. At the same time, this fixation on a conspiracy concept is caricatured even ironically within the series, for example, when the main characters accuse each other of repeated obsession and absurd theories.
By 2002, he created 202 episodes in nine seasons. Since January 2016, the series continues with a six-episode tenth season, which was originally announced as a stand-alone television miniseries. In April 2017, the production of a ten episode comprehensive eleventh season was announced, which runs since 3 January 2018 at US station Fox.
