About TV show Nashville season 5
On December 1, 2016, it was announced that episode one will air on December 15, 2016, with the rest of the season following on January 5, 2017.
The family soap opera revolves around the city of Nashville and its flourishing music scene. The main focus is on the fates of two characters: a singer who is at the career's highpoint, and a newcomer.
In October 2011, ABC signed Callie Khouri's script and announced in January 2012 the production of a pilot sequence. After the screening of the pilot sequence, the channel gave the green light in May 2012 and ordered first 13 episodes for the first season. The premiere took place on 10 October 2012 following the ABC-Comedyblock. The pilot sequence was seen by nearly nine million viewers, resulting in a target group rating of 2.8. In the next few weeks, however, Nashville lost some viewers, so that in the fourth episode, it finally reached 5.7 million viewers and a rating of 1.8. Despite the decline in the rate, ABC announced in mid-November the production of nine other episodes, the so-called back-nine-order. In April 2013 it became known that the producers were not able to produce all 22 episodes in time. The first season is therefore shortened to 21 episodes. The first season finale was broadcast on 22 May 2013. On average, the first season reached 5.94 million viewers and a target group rating of 1.9 percent.
In May 2013 ABC extended the series by a second season, the premiere of which was on 25 September 2013. The season finale of the second season was broadcast on 14 May 2014. The 22 episodes of the second season reached an average of 5.34 million viewers and a target group rating of 1.5 percent. Compared to the first season, the losses amount to 10.2 per cent in the total number of visitors and 21.2 per cent in the target group rating. In May 2014 the production of a third season was announced. The airing began at ABC on September 24, 2014.
The fourth season was broadcast in the US on September 23, 2015. In May 2016, ABC announced the setting of the series. A month later it became known that the series for the fifth season will switch to cable ending CMT.
