An unknown documentary accompanies the life of a family whose members could hardly be more different but still stick together when it matters. First there is the head of the family, Jay Pritchett (Ed O'Neill), who is now married in his second marriage to the much younger Latina Gloria (Sofía Vergara), whose precocious son Manny (Rico Rodriguez) lives with them. Jay's daughter from her first marriage, Claire Julie Bowen), now has her own family, with her husband Phil (Ty Burrell) and her three children Hayley (Sarah Hyland), Alex (Ariel Winter) and Luke (Nolan Gould) more often under their overprotective Control mania suffer. Jay's son Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) is also on his own two feet and lives together with his partner Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) and their adopted adoptive child Lily (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons). In September 2015, the broadcast of the seventh season began in the US, an eighth season was announced in March 2016.
