Mike Baxter (Tim Allen) is the marketing boss of a well-known sporting goods company and travels a lot - and of course in a big pick-up. Contrary to his professional environment, where he is regarded as the "last real guy" as an undisputed hero, the situation is for the male Mike however at home. There are four women named: Mike's wife Vanessa (Nancy Travis) and his three daughters, 22-year-old Kristin (Alexandra Krosney), 17-year-old Mandy (Molly Ephraim) and 14-year-old Eve (Kaitlyn Dever).
After Last Man Standing was officially ordered as a series in May 2011, ABC announced the 11th of October 2011 as the start date. The pilot sequence and the ensuing second succession reached just over 13 million viewers and a rating of 3.6 in the advertising target group. Since September 2006, she has been the best comedy starter ever since September 2006 at around 8 pm on US television. The season finale of the first season was shown for the first time on 8 May 2012. Three days later, ABC announced the production of a second season. The broadcast of the second season took place from 2 November 2012 to 22 March 2013.
In May 2013 the production of a third season was announced. This season was broadcast from 20 September 2013 to 25 April 2014. The fourth season was broadcast from 3 October 2014 to 17 April 2015. The crossover episode with the TV series Cristela was broadcast on April 3, 2015 in the form of a guest appearance by Allen in his role as Mike Baxter.
The first broadcast of the sixth season has been on ABC since September 23rd.

It has been produced by 20th Century Fox Television since 2011 for the US American ABC. The focus is on the threefold father of the family, Mike Baxter, who has to assert himself as a man in his wife's household. In the USA, the series kicked off on the 11th of October 2011 with a double sequence at ABC, the German-language first broadcast took place almost exactly two years later, on 10 October 2013, at ProSieben Maxx. The series plays in the same serial universe as the Comedy Cristela. In May 2016, the series was extended by a sixth season, which has been broadcast in the United States since September 23, 2016.
