Hayes Morrison (Hayley Atwell) is a lawyer and the daughter of the former US head of state. After she has already made a few scandals of her own, she is now endangered not only by her own career, but also by the current political campaign of her mother in the race for a Senate post. To counter the worst, New York Attorney General Wayne Wallis (Eddie Cahill) offers an unusual deal: if Hayes works for him, he drops the accusations. Due to the lack of alternatives, the attorney can be asked to do so, and from then on, she directs Wallis' conviction Integrity Unit, which makes it the task to re-examine the cases already concluded, where there is a reasonable suspicion of a false condemnation Innocent people, perhaps still to an acquittal to help.
