Gray's Anatomy is an American television series broadcast on March 27, 2005 for the first time by ABC. The action takes place at the fictional Seattle Grace Hospital (later Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital, then Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital) in Seattle and portrays the lives of five assistant doctors around the main character Meredith Gray. The title of the series is an allusion, since it refers to the last name of the main character, but is identical in pronunciation with the standard medical work Gray's Anatomy by Henry Gray. The series has been awarded several prizes including Emmys and Golden Globes.
Meredith Gray (Ellen Pompeo) is a junior resident at the prestigious Seattle Grace Hospital. But already her first day proves to be a hard test. For example, she first discovers that Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey), next to whom she woke up after drinking alcohol in a bar in the morning, is her new boss. But otherwise, the hospital routine keeps a lot of hardships ready. The worries of the work, however, they can at least with the new doctor candidates Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh), Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl), George O'Malley (TR Knight) and Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) share with them under Instructions of the experienced physicians Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) and dr. Preston Burke (Isaiah Washington) completed her training in surgery. However, her complicated private life keeps Meredith and her colleagues on their toes.
