Diriliş: Ertuğrul is a Turkish television series that tells the story of the Oghusian clan leader Ertuğrul Gazi, whose son founded the Ottoman Empire. The first broadcast of the series took place on December 10, 2014 on the Turkish TV station TRT 1.
The story takes place in Anatolia and Western Asia of the 13th century. The Kayi tribe, one of many Oghuz tribes, is looking for a new settlement site. The tribes are at war with the Mongols, who have gained supremacy in Central Asia. Ertuğrul is the son of Sulaiman Shah, the "Bey" of the Kayı tribe. One day, when hunting with his faithful henchmen, they meet a group of Knights Templar with three prisoners who tried unsuccessfully to flee from them.
Ertuğrul and his soldiers free the prisoners and bring them to their own tribe. After a while, it turns out that the three brothers, nephew and niece of the Seljuk sultan. By their liberation, the Kayı tribe is now also in conflict with the Knights Templar. And even the Seljuk Empire is threatened with war, if the Kayı not bring back the members of the Seldukischen Sultan immediately.
Some tribesmen of the Kayı tribe are beginning to blame Sulaiman Shah for the new difficulties. His sworn brother Kurdoğlu takes the opportunity to try to become the Bey of the Kayı tribe himself. In order to flee from the enemies and solve the problems of the tribe, Sulaiman sends Shah Ertuğrul to Aleppo. There Ertuğrul is to make an agreement with local Sultan in this respect - an event that eventually led to the founding of the Ottoman Empire.
