Cancer still remains the disease that takes away million people all over the globe each year, a real emperor of maladies in the modern world. Thus, it’s small wonder so many movies and TV programs are devoted to this problem and the theme interests so many people of all ages.
The series produced by Ken Burns, presents a six hour (three parts) documentary that is based on Siddhartha Mukherjee’s work, a winner of Pulitzer Prize. In the course of the tree part one can get acquainted with the complete history of cancer.
The first episode follows the search of cures that took centuries and lead to chemotherapy. It describes the long and laborious path from ancient Egypt up to modern institutions and their gleaming research laboratories.
In further episodes viewers can witness intimate stories of contemporary patients diagnosed with cancer and observe investigations and latest breakouts on the field of cancer fighting.
