Plot & Details
"There's a bomb in Centennial Park. You have 30 minutes left! "With these words, security guard Richard Jewell (Paul Walter Hauser) alerts the authorities when he finds a bomb on the sidelines of the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Then he helps with the evacuation of passers-by. He is celebrated as a hero, but soon the wind turns. Did Jewell know about the bomb because he placed it himself? For the FBI, the overweight loner, who would like to be a real cop, fits perfectly on the profile of a bombardier. And the press is quickly convinced. Journalists like the overzealous Kathy Scruggs (Olivia Wilde) are soon shaping the public's image with their headlines. Every aspect of Jewell's life is taken apart, he is branded a potential terrorist. Committed lawyer Watson Bryant (Sam Rockwell) soon finds himself exposed to a fight against windmills in his attempt to prove Jewell's innocence - and his client does not necessarily help him with that. Because the naive Jewell wants to stand by the so admired FBI and the police at the Tätersuche to the side.
